Danny Albert Garabedian, 71, a resident of Yerington, Nevada, passed away peacefully at Renown Hospital in Reno in the early morning of April 7, 2025. His husband was by his side.

Danny was born in Fresno, California on July 30, 1953. He grew up in Rio Linda, California, graduating from Rio Linda High School in 1971.
Danny moved to Alaska in the late 70’s and lived in Ketchikan, Anchorage, Palmer, Fairbanks, and Bethel. He pursued a degree in nursing at the University of Alaska while working as a hairdresser. Due to health problems, he was unable to complete his degree.
While in Alaska, Danny became a member of Alaska State Horseman’s Association and the American Horse Shows Association and participated in many horse show competitions in Anchorage, Palmer, and Fairbanks. He participated in both Western and English shows winning numerous awards in trail, equitation, western pleasure, and hunter under saddle competitions. Danny and his horse Tex’s Stocking Moon were national champions in both Western Pleasure and Trail with the American Horse Shows Association.

Due to health reasons Danny moved back to Rio Linda, California, in 2001 with his partner Jim Baker and his horse Tex’s Stocking Moon. He was able to receive a liver transplant at UC Davis Medical Center in 2003.
Danny became a member of the Sacramento Horseman’s Association and participated in many local horse shows with both Tex’s Stocking Moon and several new horses including Blossom, Candy Bar Brat, and Jonathan.


Danny and Jim were married on December 29, 2014, in Sacramento. They moved to Yerington, Nevada in October 2016.
Danny was preceded in death by his father George Garabedian and his sister Peggy Garabedian, both of Sacramento.
He is survived by his husband, Jim Baker of Yerington, his mother Barbara Garabedian of Sacramento, and his sister Terrie of Rocklin California, and many nieces and nephews in the Sacramento area.
A portion of Danny’s ashes will be scattered in Alaska with the remainder interred at Sunset Lawn Cemetery in Rio Linda. Services are not currently planned.
