Walker River Little League: Padres Walk It Off Against Yankees
Padres took Wednesday’s game in dramatic fashion, with an 8-6 walk-off victory over Yankees at TBD. The game was tied at six in the bottom of the fifth when Colton B tripled, scoring two runs.
Padres rallied for the victory despite trailing 5-1 in the third.
Yankees were the first to get on the board in the first when Dreyson F singled, scoring one run.
Colton stole home, which helped Padres tie the game at one in the bottom of the first.
Yankees captured the lead, 5-1, in the top of the third after Nathan M doubled, and Dreyson singled down the right field line, each scoring two runs.
Padres jumped into the lead in the bottom of the third when Johnny S singled, scoring one run, Chevy V singled, scoring two runs, and a steal of home scored one run.
Jacoby B stole home, which helped Yankees tie the game at five in the top of the fourth.
A single by Kash K gave Padres the lead, 6-5, in the bottom of the fourth.
Nathan stole home, which helped Yankees tie the game at six in the top of the fifth.
Chevy earned the win for Padres. The hurler allowed zero hits and one run over one and two-thirds innings, striking out four and walking two.
Jared J took the loss for Yankees. The hurler went one and two-thirds innings, surrendering three runs on three hits, striking out five and walking three.
Johnny started the game for Padres. The right-handed pitcher surrendered six hits and six runs over three and one-third innings, striking out seven and walking three.
Nathan started the game for Yankees. The starter surrendered two hits and five runs over two and one-third innings, striking out five and walking six.
Colton and Chevy were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, as each drove in two runs for Padres. Luis M led Padres with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating nine walks for the game. Colton, Johnny, Chevy, Kash, Daniel V, and Luis each stole multiple bases for Padres. Padres ran wild on the base paths, tallying 21 stolen bases for the game. Padres were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Colton had the most chances in the field with 11.
Dreyson drove the middle of the lineup, leading Yankees with three runs batted in. The third baseman went 2-for-3 on the day. Arson F and Dreyson each collected two hits for Yankees. Jacoby and Nathan each stole multiple bases for Yankees. Yankees ran wild on the base paths, collecting six stolen bases for the game. Yankees didn’t commit a single error in the field. Odin G had the most chances in the field with nine.
