Juniors Yankees bested Bad News Bears 6-5 on Monday after taking the lead late in the game. Juniors Yankees were down 5-3 in the bottom of the fourth inning when Colton Grady singled, scoring three runs.
Bad News Bears were the first to get on the board in the first when Mason Hurt singled, scoring two runs.
Juniors Yankees tied the game in the bottom of the first thanks to a single by Ruben Jimenez, and a passed ball.
In the top of the fourth, Bad News Bears broke up the tie when Abel Zarazua tripled, scoring two runs. Then a double by Nolan Landa followed to extend the lead to 5-2.
Juniors Yankees captured the lead, 6-5, in the bottom of the fourth when Kayden Studley drew a walk, scoring one run, and Grady singled, scoring three runs.
Erick Juarez started on the bump for Juniors Yankees. The starter gave up two hits and two runs over three innings, striking out eight and walking two. Jimenez appeared in relief for Juniors Yankees.
Studley, Jimenez, and Grady each drove in one run for Juniors Yankees. Juarez went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Juniors Yankees in hits. Jimenez stole two bases. Juniors Yankees stole six bases in the game.
Zarazua drove the middle of the lineup, leading Bad News Bears with two runs batted in. The number three hitter went 2-for-2 on the day. Landa and Zarazua each stole multiple bases for Bad News Bears. Bad News Bears ran wild on the base paths, collecting nine stolen bases for the game.
