12.23.2024 Yerington, Nevada – The Lyon County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) met for the final time of 2024 on Thursday, December 19th and heard year-end reports from County officials, including the Lyon County Annual Comprehensive Financial Report 2023-2024 presented by Comptroller Josh Foli. The report summarizes the County’s long-term financial plan and independent audit report. The audit firm Sciarani & Co. conducts multiple tests to monitor internal controls and reported no findings during their review and compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

 

During the meeting, County Officials thanked Commissioner Wes Henderson for his dedicated service to the citizens of Lyon County as this was the last meeting of his term as County Commissioner.

 

Lyon County Sheriff’s Office Awards

Sheriff Brad Pope honored Carl Mushrush with a retirement plaque and thanked him for his 18 years of dedicated service to the communities of Lyon County. In addition, Deputies Nathan Whittemore and Justin Ryan received Life Saving Awards for their heroic actions to render aid to an unconscious individual in Yerington on November 23, 2024. Dennis Bellow also received the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office Community Service Award for his efforts to raise money for the Shop with a Sheriff event.

 

 

Other Board Actions:

  • Board Appointments – A motion to appoint Wes Henderson to the Planning Commission resulted in a 2-2 vote, moving the item to the first meeting in January.
  • County Engineering Master Services Agreement (MSA): Approved the selection of DOWL Engineering for the MSA related to development services, including County Engineer, County Surveyor, floodplain management and inspection services.
  • County Manager Annual Review: Approved County Manager Andrew Haskin’s annual performance evaluation, and approved a merit increase in the amount of 2.5% of his base salary.
  • Senate Bill 53 – County Manager Haskin presented on Senate Bill 53, Lyon County’s Bill for the 83rd Legislative Session, establishing requirements for GPS navigation websites and applications to post road closures and hazards, and other matters related thereto.
  • Human Services Contracts for Behavioral Health Services: Approved contracts with Candice Landa to provide Behavioral Health Clinician services in the amount of $15,600 for Lyon County Resilient Families, $15,600 for the Mobile Outreach Safety Team (MOST), and the Trauma Focused Therapy programs. The Board also approved a contract with Angelica Alexander in the amount of $30,160 to provide Behavioral Health Clinician services for the Trauma Focused Therapy Program. Finally, Commissioners approved a contract between Lyon County and Transition Support Property Solutions for $5,588 to provide handyman services to individuals within the Senior Services Case Management program.
  • Letters of Support: Approved a letter of support for the South Lyon County Hospital District’s proposal to construct a new clinic and a letter to Governor Joe Lombardo’s Office thanking him for sending the letter collaborating with the County to address concerns on Federal projects.
