Lyon County Sheriff’s Sergeant W. McDaniel recommended three Fernley citizens for Life Saving Awards for heroic actions they took on September 23, 2024 to rescue a resident from a home fully involved in a house fire. These three Fernley citizens are: Kenneth Walker Jr., Antonio Orozco and Jorge Quintero.
At the Lyon County Board of Commissioners meeting on Thursday, November 7, 2024, Kenneth Walker Jr., Antonio Orozco and Jorge Quintero were publicly recognized for their courage and heroism. From Sheriff Pope: “Unfortunately the Fernley Citizens were unable to attend but we will make sure their awards and medals reach them. Thank you all for your service to Lyon County.”
