YES Teacher “Mrs. Davis” : Judith Ann (Springer) Davis – 8/22/1940 to 9/18/2024

Judith Ann (Springer) Davis passed away peacefully on September 18, 2024, at the age of 84. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to have known her.

Judy was born on August 22nd, 1940, to the late Vivian Green and Jack Springer in Ludington, Michigan where she graduated from Ludington High School. She continued her schooling at Central Michigan college where she met and fell in love with Jerry Lee Davis. After college, she moved to San Diego to be closer to Jerry, who was stationed there for the US Navy. Following Jerry’s active duty, the couple married and eventually settled in Yerington, Nevada, after a brief stay in Reno.

For over 35 years, Judith dedicated herself to teaching at Yerington Elementary School, where she became almost everyone’s beloved third-grade teacher. She had a deep passion for her job and her students, often spending countless hours outside of school planning activities and creating an inviting classroom environment. In 2003, Judith retired from teaching to pursue other interests.

An active member of her community, Judith strongly believed in giving back. She and Jerry played a pivotal role in establishing the Walker River Foundation, and even after Jerry’s passing, Judith continued to donate her time and auction items for the Foundation’s dinners. She was also a founding member of the Theatre of the Arts and actively worked towards the restoration of the Yerington Grammar School. Judith served on the board of the Mason Family Swim Center, known for her dedication to saving money for significant projects. Alongside her dear friends Martha Deihl and Yvonne Draper, Judith took care of the plants and flowers on Main Street, nurturing their beauty for the enjoyment of the entire community.

In her leisure time, Judith enjoyed participating in the women’s bowling league, playing golf, traveling, engaging in bridge games, and, of course, playing tennis. However, her greatest joy came from spending time with her five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Judith was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jerry, daughter Julie, and grandson Austin. She is survived by her brothers Jerry Springer and Phillip Gage, son Jeff Davis, grandchildren Matt Veil, Michaela Davis, Vincent Davis, Angelina Davis, and her two great-grandsons Bryson Veil and Noah Veil. Additionally, she leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews. Judith will be dearly missed by many, and may she find eternal peace.

No memorial service is planned, family and friends are invited to sign her online guest book at www.FRFH.net  In lieu of flowers, and in the memory of Judy’s generous spirit, donations can be made to The Yerington Theatre of the Arts, The Walker River Foundation, or The Mason Valley Pool.

Arrangements and cremation was under the direction of Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home, 25 Hwy 208 Yerington, NV 89447 (775) 463-2911
