Obituary for Jesse Patrick Roberts: October 11, 1937 to July 29, 2024

Jesse Patrick Roberts passed away on July 29, 2024 at the Carson Tahoe Transitional Rehabilitation Center in Carson City, Nevada at the age of 86.

Jesse was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on October 11, 1937 to parents Albert  and Josie Worley-Roberts. He entered the US Air Force on November 1, 1954. His list of military assignments were numerous.  Overseas, he served in French Morocco, Okinawa, Vietnam and Philippines. As an air crew member he participated in transport missions worldwide. In Vietnam, as an Air Commando, he was credited with 52 combat missions. After military he entered civil service with the Air Force as a traffic manager. One of his assignments was as an Air Force representative to the Space Shuttle programs “Transportation Sub-committee”.  He later served as Chief of Procurement Traffic, Air Terminal Manager and Chief of the West Coast Containerization (sea-van) Operation while at McClellan Air Force Base, Calif. His last job was in his home state of Ohio as Base Transportation Officer.

Basketball and golf were his favorite sports activities. After retiring Jesse and his wife Sylvia traveled the country in their RV. Their travels brought them to Yerington, Nevada. The friendly people and the small town atmosphere lead them to settle in Yerington in 2003 for 10 years. Jesse was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and member of the Yerington VFW Post 8084. He supported causes for military veterans, programs for children, and the humane treatment of animals. He helped local animal shelters.  When asked if he would do something for the many feral  cats in Yerington, he founded the Yerington Area Cat Control (YACC) Shelter in February 2012. Due to medical needs Jesse and Sylvia relocated to Carson City in 2013.

Jesse is survived by his loving wife of 46 years Sylvia Roberts, son Gregory Roberts, daughters Gina Hall and Angela Hoeger, step-son Brady Scott along with his half-brother Albert Roberts Jr. “Butch” and sister Lois Dickerson.

Jesse was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Josie Roberts, beloved daughter Carla Sisneros and brother Charles Roberts.

A graveside service will be held with military honors on Wednesday August 7th at 11:00am, Valley View Cemetery in Yerington.  Family and friends are invited to sign his online guest book at www.FRFH.net
