“POST is the regulatory agency that establishes and maintains the minimum qualifications, training and standards for Nevada’s peace officers. It is the governing authority for the employment, behavior, basic and professional certification, course certification, and training requirements for all peace officers in the state. The nine members of the Commission are appointed by the Governor and regularly scheduled meetings are held to discuss and revise standards and regulations, hear issues addressing the law enforcement community, and render judgment regarding officer behavior; which may result in denial, suspension or revocation of POST certification. In addition, POST develops training (both classroom and online), conducts a basic training academy and professional courses delivering quality instruction to peace officers throughout the state. POST performs audits of all agencies and academies providing guidance and oversight while monitoring their compliance with the standards set forth in the NRS and NAC.”
