Sheriff Pope’s Message of the Week: May 3, 2024 “Peace Officer Memorial Events”

Several Peace Officer memorial events (were) and are being held this week throughout northern Nevada.

On Wednesday, May 1st Peace Officers from northern Nevada attended the “Turning the Arch Blue” event in Reno, in honor of law enforcement officers that have died in the line of duty.

On Thursday May 2nd, Peace Officers from across the State of Nevada attended the Nevada Law Enforcement Memorial in Carson City. The names of five Peace Officers were added to the memorial this year, which brought the total to 157 names of fallen Peace Officers engraved on the memorial.

The 37th Annual James D. Hoff Peace Officer Memorial Ceremony will be held on Friday, May 3, at 10:00 AM at the memorial site in Idlewild Park.

Please keep all law enforcement, whether active, retired or fallen in your thoughts and prayers. Please keep their families, and loved ones in your thoughts and prayers as well.
