Walker River Little League Hosted Opening Ceremonies ~ April 13, 2024 at Buck Aiazzi Field

Yerington, Nevada

On Saturday, April 13, at 9:00 a.m., Walker River Little League WRLL hosted the Opening Ceremonies for the 2024 Season on Buck Aiazzi Field.

This season, 37 baseball, softball and teeball teams are playing with over 400 players signed up. (See photo gallery below that follows the ceremony chronologically.)

During ceremonies, all teams and individual players were named rapidly by announcer Nick Beaton as they enthusiastically ran the bases then re-assembled on the outfield. WRLL Icon Jerry Bryant directed the teams and players in the line-up to run the bases.

Master of Ceremonies was Yerington’s own Nick Beaton.

The National Anthem was performed by 13 year old Clarisa Alvarez.

The Player Pledge and Volunteer Pledge were presented by Minors Division players Maurice Galvin and Michael Johnston.

The honors of our ceremonial first pitch were given to a long time volunteer and friend of the program, Bill McDonald. Bill umpired for many years and volunteered countless hours to our program. His humor and great attitude are sorely missed by all and he had a great impact on hundreds of players as they came up through the ranks. We know that Bill would still be out there calling balls and strikes today if his health allowed it.
Receiving the first pitch from Bill:  Majors Division player Colton Borsini.

Following opening ceremonies WRLL hosted a Home Run Derby for players and a Home Run Derby for Coaches!

TeeBall games, Minors games and a nightcap Majors game rounded out the day’s activities. Yerington High School was also busy with games on Pat Peeples and Booth-Parr Fields.
