“Harkening back to their radio days, Travis (Crowder) and John (Butler) return to the airwaves for great local news, guests, info and fun. This time, focusing on the areas of Yerington, Dayton, Silver Springs and Hawthorne.

“Our guest today is Jerry Bryant, Vice-President of Walker River Little League WRLL and Yerington City Councilman. Jerry talks the upcoming baseball and softball seasons across the area and some exciting things coming to town.”

Jerry announced that local icon Bill McDonald will be throwing the 1st ceremonial pitch at the 2024 Walker River Little League Opening Ceremonies on Saturday, April 13th at 9am, Buck Aiazzi Field.

Jerry reported that the WRLL  Board (made up of 15 people who prefer to be un-named) has been working collaboratively with local baseball supporters to ready the fields; set-up team rosters; assign coaches; recruit umpires, etc.

Last year the WRLL sponsored its 1st “End of the Season Dinner” for all participants and their families; this was such a popular dinner that it  will be now be an annual event.

Fund-raising is a component that the WRLL embraces in order to keep the player fees affordable for all families. This year the WRLL will be selling raffle tickets for a 2022 Razor side-by-side at $10/ticket. The winner will be announced at the End of Season Dinner.

Walker River Little League is part of the Nevada District III Little League which also includes Silverado Little League in Dayton and the Hawthorne Little League. With more players signing on, families will have the opportunity to attend more games within District III.

This year there are 4 Majors Softball teams in WRLL.  And because Farm Softball began last year, WRLL anticipates that the softball program will only grow, preparing athletes for their high school teams.
