Yerington High School Junior Yosselin Vazquez Madera represented Lyon County at the 2024 Nevada State Finals Competition for Poetry Out Loud. The competition took place on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at the Pioneer Center for Performing Arts in Reno, Nevada.

Nevada Poetry Out Loud State Finalists for 2024 were: Coral Academy of Science High School Junior Rayann Hijazi; Elko High School Junior Kyara Hernandez-Duarte; Virginia City Senior Mariah Mavity; Carson City High School Sophomore Nasia Perkins; Yerington High School Junior Yosselin Vazquez Madera; and East Career & Technical Academy Senior Marianne Ocampo.

The final 3 contestants of the competition were: 1st Place representing Nevada at the National Poetry Out Loud Competition, Rayann Hijazi; 2nd Place Kyara Hernandez-Duarte; 3rd Place Nasia Perkins:

Yosselin represented Yerington High School and the community of Lyon County with dignity and grace as she stood alone on the vast stage of the Pioneer Center for Performing Arts.
