Don Zirbel, retired fire professional, wrote on social media Easter Sierra Fire & Ice before 7p.m.: “Vegetation fire in the Pinenut Mountains, Smith Valley side…arriving units report the fire is halfway up, burning in pinion/juniper, slightly wind driven. Sierra Front Dispatch notified; additional resources enroute. Numerous lightning strikes recorded in the area this afternoon…”
Updates:
- “Bucket helo on scene, dropping water.
- 7:05p.m.Two helos are currently working the fire.
- 7:20pm – A Type 2 handcrew from North Lake Tahoe FD is enroute.
- 8:55pm – Resources will remain on the fire through the night; updates as they are available.”
