Elizabeth “Lizz” Marie Neligan ~ Her Capacity for Loving was Huge…Unconditional and Never-Ending

Elizabeth “Lizz” Marie Neligan née Macias, 57, passed away early on the morning of Wednesday August 9th, 2023 in Yerington, Nevada. She was born on January 7th, 1966 in San Jose, California to Emilio and Kathy Macias.

Lizz was fond of care-free fun times and music. Many of the experiences she shared with her family and friends included concert-going or taking a ride on the open road with music playing in the background. Her playlist of favorite artists would include the likes of Bonnie Raitt, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Santana, Phil Collins, the Blues Brothers, Janet Jackson, Queen and so many more.

In addition to her love for fun, anybody who knew her well remembered her sense of humor and love for hard belly-laughs. She will be remembered for drawing googly eyes on anything she could get her black sharpie to. She loved drawing funny pictures and writing in her expressive style.

Lizz often shared in happy memories of being outdoors. She often fantasized of one day moving to the Oregon coast. Her favorite place to be was surrounded by trees and lakes. If she was looking for a vacation, her ideal source of relaxation would be camping near Lake Tahoe or Lake Shasta. She shared many memories with her family around campfires and inside of tents.

Her capacity for loving was huge. And while she shared this gift of love with a very special group, it was unconditional and never ending. While this group was made of family and a few close friends, it expanded to animals in such a big way. Her love for animals was a foundational part of her life. From her companion dogs and cats, to her love for horses, she had a special bond with her four-legged friends.

Elizabeth “Lizz” Marie Neligan is survived by her husband Dennis Michael Neligan, her children Shane and Shannon, and her three grandchildren. She left behind her beloved dogs, Miggie and Princess. She was predeceased by her brothers Matthew and Daniel Macias.

At this time, her family plans to have a private scattering of her ashes in accordance with her final wishes and no other services. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Safe Haven Rescue Kennel in memory of Lizz Neligan.

Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home, 25 Hwy 208 Yerington, Nevada 89447 (775) 463-2911
