Message of the Week 07/21/2023

Summer operations and community events are in full swing. Along with the heat, and this year’s mosquitos the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office is committed to being fully involved with the community. There are several community events taking place in August and September throughout our County, all of which the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office will take part in.

National Night Out:
August 1st,2023

Fernley, Out of Town Park 6:00PM

“National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community. Furthermore, it provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.” ~ National Night Out

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, the City of Fernley, North Lyon Fire, the Nevada State Police and the Nevada Fire Marshalls and other agencies will be participating. There are booths with giveaways for kids, and the City of Fernley is working on providing food!

Lyon County Fair and Rodeo:
August 17th – August 20th, 2023

Lyon County Fairgrounds, Yerington, NV

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office will maintain its booth at the Fair and Rodeo. We have ordered new “kid swag” and are looking forward to meeting and seeing many of our community members at this great event.

Thursday Night – Kid’s Night
Friday Night – Truck & Tractor Pull
Saturday Afternoon – Open Rodeo
Saturday Night – Demo Derby

Sunday – Open Roping

Dayton Valley Days:
September 16th – September 17th, 2023

Dayton, NV

A two-day festival featuring unique gifts and crafts, food, Show ‘n’ Shine, live acoustic music, corn hole, rock drilling, Pet Parade, pancake breakfast and more!

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office will again maintain its booth at this event. Not only that but this is the first event the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office Junior Deputies will be working alongside the Sheriff’s Office and helping out!

Lyon County Sheriff’s Office staff is committed to the partnership with the community. Staff continues to attend events such as: Town hall meetings, Senior Center presentations and health events, Advisory Board meetings, City Council Meetings (Fernley & Yerington) and many more.

We always look forward to seeing the community at these events! Any Lyon County organizations or groups are encouraged to reach out, let’s expand our partnerships and make Lyon County a safer place to live and raise our families.

Respectfully,
Sheriff Brad Pope
