The Lyon County Board of Directors hosted an open house on Saturday, May 13th.

Participants enjoyed punch and cookies while taking a step back in time viewing our communities treasured history through artifacts, photos, and preserved buildings including Yerington’s Country Store,  East Walker No 9 school house, and the Texaco gas station donated by the Hillygus family.

A restored diesel train engine used in the 1940’s on the Nevada Copper Belt Railroad proudly highlights our rich train history in a charming display surrounded by photographs and artifacts unique to Lyon County and Wilson Canyon.

Participants enjoyed a Spaghetti Feed by ECV (E Clampus Vitus) raising funds for the amazing YFD (Yerington Fire Department) Fire Station No. 3 exhibit.

The geology of the area, Indigenous people’s history, and the many people who settled and made this beautiful valley their home are proudly displayed for all of us learn and celebrate our past.

Board members and volunteers are on the ready to give tours and share stories too!
