The Lyon County Board of Commissioners has scheduled a workshop to discuss the request for proposal process, the solid waste franchise, to receive community input, and to provide staff with direction to develop a Request for Proposals for a solid waste franchise which will include the services to be provided, mandated, or eliminated as part of the franchise. Lyon County was working under a franchise with Waste Management and had gone through an RFP process earlier this year.
The Board awarded the Franchise to Olcese Waste and Waste Management protested the award. The Board decided to grant the protest and directed staff to start the process over. Thursday evening’s meeting will address questions the Board had about the RFP process and receive input from the public on services desired in a franchise.
The meeting will be held at 6:30 PM on August 18, 2022, at the Central Lyon County Fire Protection District Office, 246 Dayton Valley Road Suite 105.
