Lyon County Commissioners Ken Gray, Vida Keller, and David Hockaday unveiled a plaque renaming the Lyon County Justice Complex to the Donald J. Trump Justice Complex on 2/5/2022 at 3:30 PM. A 30-minute ceremony was held in the entryway of the Justice Complex located at 911 Harvey Way in Yerington.
(As an aside, Harvey Way was named after a Lyon County resident who built the Lyon County Juvenile Probation Department from the ground up over the course of 4 decades: Harvey Pinkerton.)
The Board of Commissioners passed a Proclamation with a 3-2 vote in August 2021 to rename the facility. The Sheriff’s Office, Jail, Third Judicial District Court, and Walker River Justice Court are housed at the Justice Complex which opened in 2013. The plaque was paid for with private donations.
Amongst the 50+ attendees at the unveiling were several guests who were also in town for the Annual Lyon County Republican Lincoln Day Dinner. Commissioner Gray introduced Las Vegas Councilwoman Michelle Fiore; Clark County Sheriff Lombardo; Fernley Republican Women’s President Jonell Maple; Yerington Mayor John Garry; State Chair of the Nevada Republican Party Michael McDonald; Clark County Chair of the Republican Party Jesse Law; Lyon County Republican Party Chair Steve Marks; and Douglas County Commissioner Wes Henderson.
County Manager Jeff Page was present to facilitate the use of the Justice Complex for the unveiling. And Photojournalist Bob Deiters was there representing KTVN Channel 2 News.
