Robert Eugene Vawter ~ Most important things in his life were his relationship with God & his love for his family

Robert Eugene Vawter : January 3, 1934 – January 29, 2022
Bob Vawter passed away at his home on Saturday, January 29. He was 88 years old.
The third of seven children, Robert Eugene Vawter was born January 3, 1934, in Lyndon, Kansas, to Goldie (Ferris) and Walter Lloyd Vawter Sr. As a child, he lived in several cities, including Roswell, New Mexico; Taft, California; and Ojai, California. Bob was a star football player at Atascadero High School from which he graduated in 1952. Bob met the love of his life, Gwen Warren, on a blind date while visiting his cousin in Compton, California. Bob and Gwen were married May 1, 1953, in Lynwood, California.
During his lifetime, Bob worked for several companies, including Western Electric, Atascadero State Hospital, Lancaster Industrial Laundry, Giant Truck Stop, Tom’s Distribution, and A & D Textile Rentals. His most recent employer was Yerington Elementary School, where he worked as a janitor for 18 years.
The most important things in his life were his relationship with God and his love for his family. He had a special relationship with each of his 17 grandchildren.
He was predeceased by Gwen, his wife of 68 years; his parents; and his brothers Walter, Charles, Richard, Carl, and Donald. He is survived by his sister Gloria Atwater; children Darryl, Craig (Mary-Jean), Julie (Dr. Charles Woodrow), Paul, Lloyd (Cathleen), and Ellen (Mihai Bascuti); 17 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren.
