Ronald Leroy Sturgeon has left us on Saturday, January 30, 2022.  He was 80.

Ron was born at the Stewart Indian Hospital in Stewart, Nevada on May 25, 1941 the son of Hubert and Lena (Perri) Sturgeon.  He lived in Bodie, California until he was 5 and it was time to go to school, the family moved to Gardnerville, Nevada for a few years and they they moved back to Mono County, settling in Bridgeport. California.  He attended grammar school in Bridgeport and then graduated from Coleville High School in 1959.

Uncle Sam had the pleasure of his company from November 19, 1963 to November 19, 1965.  Since the Army thought Bridgeport did not get cold enough he was stationed in the 172nd support battalion-part of the 172nd Infantry Brigade, stationed at Fort Richardson, Alaska.

Ron and his wife moved to Yerington in 1996 after he retired from the County of Mono Road Department as a Road Supervisor.  He loved retirement, enjoying geocaching, camping at Green Creek, Bridgeport soaking in the hot springs.

Those left with his loss are his wife of 44 years, Cheryl; daughters, Karen Sturgeon and Rhonda Sturgeon; granddaughter, Taylor Sturgeon and great grandson, Cooper Sturgeon all of Delaware, Step-son Scott and his wife Kitty Edwards of Yerington.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his only sibling, Butch Sturgeon.

He was a man of few words, just like his father, the kindest man his wife Cheryl ever met and will always be the love of her life.

In honor of his wishes his cremains will be buried at the Bridgeport Cemetery and no services will be held.  Family and friends are invited to sign his online guest book at www.FRFH.net
