Marty Lou Tapogna Faria | April 4, 1938 – December 21, 2021
Marty Faria, age 83, passed away on December 21, 2021 at the South Lyon Medical Center in Yerington, NV.
Marty was born on April 4, 1938 in Reno, Nevada to Harold and Aileen Tapogna and grew up in San Jose, CA. Marty married Edwin Faria of Hayward, CA on May 30,1958 and they lived in the California Bay Area until 1972 when they relocated to Yerington, NV. They then relocated to Redding, CA in 1978 and returned to Yerington, NV in 1998 for their retirement years.
Marty enjoyed a career as a school bus driver in Pleasanton, CA, Yerington, NV and Redding, CA.
Marty and Ed had two daughters, Patricia Austin (Denis) from Kennewick, WA and Mary Jo Spyrow (Tom) from Reno, NV.
Marty is survived by her two daughters, a sister, Jean Pond of Santa Clara, CA, as well as five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Marty was preceded in death by her parents, husband, younger sister Aileen Alice McCluskey, and great-grandson Matthew Austin.
Marty loved the rural lifestyle, barrel racing, gardening, baking, and traveling. She was also a very avid and talented artisan focusing on tole painting and quilting and made many new friends through painting and in her quilting club.
Both of her daughters participated in 4-H, FFA, rodeo and western pleasure competitions which brought her great joy and pride. She was equally proud of her grandchildren whether they played sports or were involved with animals such as 4-H and rodeo.
Marty’s final days were lightened by daily visits from her close friends who had assisted with her wishes of staying in her own home in her final years.
A celebration of life will be held later in the year. Cremation is under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Home in Fallon, NV.
