Kutoven Stevens from Mason Valley, Nevada ran unattached in the Nevada Union Cross Country Invitational at Union High School in Nevada City, California today: Saturday, September 11th, 2021.
Ku took 1st place in a pack of 142 runners on a 3 mile course with a 16 minute 8.55 second finish. His friend Jackson Elliot followed in 2nd at 16:31. Another of Ku’s friends, Dylon Solomon of Reno, ran “with all his heart” according to Misty Stevens and also came in at the top end of the pack at 17:10.87.
Kutoven ran in his black YPT suit, “wrapping in the (Yerington Paiute Tribe) flag at the finish,” reported his mother Misty.
Mrs. Stevens also credits Coach Lupe and Coach Tyler of Damonte High School for mentoring Ku and offering him “such amazing support and friendship”. Kutoven’s Great Uncle Glen Ellison and Auntie Lynette attended the invitational to cheer him on to the finish line.
