Yerington NV – September 14, 2026

Good afternoon Yerington families!

Today, on Patriot Day, please remember to pause to honor and remember the nearly 3,000 innocent lives lost on September 11, 2001. I ask that you pay tribute to the incredible courage of the first responders, service members, and everyday heroes who answered the call of duty without hesitation.

Lastly, please reflect on this somber anniversary, and reaffirm our strength, unity, and shared commitment to supporting one another and keeping their memory alive.

Community Updates:

We have YHS Volleyball happening as I write this, but if you missed it, don’t worry. They’re in action again tomorrow (September 12, 2026) morning at the YHS gym. I’ll attach a flyer with more information.

Also on Saturday night is the annual Ducks Unlimited Banquet and Auction. This is a great event every year and Lions’ Club is on hand in support of it, so I always encourage you to go have fun and support those who support our community!

Sunday morning, we have both a Main Street Cleanup project happening, and a Suicide Awareness event happening from 12 pm to 5 pm in the parking lot of Imperial and Krazy Fruits off of N. West St.

For the Yerington NV Main Street Committee cleanup, volunteers are always welcome to pitch in. Wear gloves, and bring some rakes, shovels or brooms if you can. We are meeting at City Hall at 9:00 a.m.

Then on Monday (September 14, 2026) we will have both the regular scheduled City Council meeting at 10:00 a.m., and then at 6:00 p.m. at City Hall is the dedication of the 250th Anniversary Mural that local artist Stephanie LaBranch brought to life on our building. We are expecting a good size crowd for this, so be sure to come out and participate in this wonderful dedication. You can find a nice write up and learn more about this project here:

As for the regular scheduled City Council meeting, the full agenda and supporting documents can be found here: https://www.yerington.net/AgendaCenter .

I have two items I’d like to bring your attention to. One is regarding water billing and the other is regarding water sampling.

In regards to water billing, if you’re an online payment customer, you may have noticed a glitch in which your July bill did not post correctly, and then when August’s bill posted, it corrected itself and in some case showed any unpaid balance from July as due.

This was caused by a software update in our programs that push the billing into the online portal and it has since been corrected. However, if your have your water/sewer on autopay, it means July did not pay because the billing never went through(thus giving autopay something to pay against).

We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience.

In regards to the water sampling, I’m attaching a letter as a graphic to explain in further detail, but in summary, when our team submitted our required samples in June of 2026, the form we turn into the third party lab, we inadvertently did not check one of the boxes asking them to test for Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC’s). We had them test for many, many other items, but an oversight led to this box not being checked resulting in a violation.

We have taken steps internally to improve this submission process to avoid it happening again, but wanted to inform the public of the violation now, as opposed to waiting for you to find it on the annual confidence letter we send out every July. We made a mistake and have learned from it. On the bright side, the samples we have pulled from the California Well since the new well came online have been very good samples, and this was the well in question.

In regards to the meeting on Monday, we have several items to discuss and always encourage you to come join us if you can.

We also have a Planning Commission meeting scheduled for September 23, 2026 at 4:00 p.m. and you’ll see that agenda posted soon.

We continue make headway with road improvements through town, with Pot-Hole-Palooza. If you have an area you want to be sure is on our list of needed road improvements, you can send them directly to me at jerryb@yerington.net.

AWOS III is scheduled to begin installation at the Yerington Airport on Monday and is expected to take two weeks to complete.

On Saturday September 26 is our annual Air Fair (Fly In) at the Yerington Airport as well, so be sure to come on out and join us for fun. Battle Born Medevac will be on hand offering unique insights to their helicopter as well.

With that, I hope to see you out and about this weekend at one of our several events happening!

See you next week,

Jerry Bryant
