Hello Yerington Community,
I’m sharing an abbreviated update tonight as I leave the office, but I’ll share a lengthier update next week. There is A LOT going on for our community.
We are preparing equipment to begin spraying for weeds, there is cleanup and repair of lights at Mountain View Park happening, work on the alley by YHS should start next week, sidewalk repairs and additions are front and center & much, much more.
I am working on organizing a stakeholder meeting to discuss some commercial zoning improvements, improvements we hope may help make our downtown district more vibrant while maintaining our historic charm. Be on the lookout for details on that coming in February.
I wanted to share something tonight that made an impression on me. I keep trying to find an adjective to properly describe it and I keep coming back to the word “powerful.”
I’m talking about the traveling Holocaust Exhibit on display in our Yerington library right now. I was able to stop by the Lyon County Libraries Yerington office today for work related purposes and while there, I had to stop in and see it for myself. It is truly incredible. It is difficult to read these and not be moved. I encourage each and every one of you to stop by the library.

Go when you have time to enjoy the depth of materials there. Bring your family, young and old. I’ll share the libraries hours in the photos. I also found their flyer that states it will be there for the month of February.

Please go see this. Such an incredible piece and we are fortunate our Lyon County Libraries brought it to us.

Have a great weekend everyone.
