Full-length documentary film “Remaining Native” was shown at The Yerington Movie House on July 12 & 13, 2025, circling back to the Yerington Paiute Reservation of Mason Valley, Nevada, where Kutoven Steven’s story began.

This was a free-to-attend screening paid for courtesy of the Rotary Club of Yerington, Nevada. After each screening, a Question & Answer session was held with Remaining Native Director Paige Bethmann; Kutoven, Misty & Delmar Stevens; Coach Lupe Cabada; and Moderator Amber Torres.

Remaining Native describes itself as “a coming-of-age feature documentary told through the perspective of Ku Stevens, a 17-year-old Native American runner from the Yerington Paiute Reservation in Northwest Nevada. The film follows Ku as he navigates his way to college athletics while the memory of his great-grandfather’s 50-mile escape from Indian Boarding School begins to connect past, present, and future.”

Sunday morning, July 13th, the public was invited to join Kutoven Stevens at the Yerington Paiute Administration building off of Campbell Lane for a Remaining Native Community Fun Run and free t-shirt silk screening with Laika Press. Huge thanks to the SDPI grant and Joey Fanjul (Wellness Coordinator at Yerington Paiute Tribe) for partnering with Remaining Native and the Stevens Family! Running Strong for American Indian Youth and the Stewart Indian School also shared sponsorship in the Sunday morning festivities!
