Yerington, Nevada – April 10, 2026

Alright Yerington,

Whoever called and ordered the wind and rain over spring break, please call and cancel your order! The weather seems to have taken a turn these last two weeks, but don’t let that stop you from attending the 73rd Annual Yerington Lion’s Club Nut Feed tomorrow, April 11, 2026. I’m told this event is sold out again, so if you didn’t get your tickets early, you may be missing out one of the best events in town! Not only is this event a great time with a lot of laughs, it’s for a great cause and supports a wonderful organization that has been supporting our community longer than most of us have been alive! Incredible. I hope you can make it.

Lions Club International of Yerington

There’s also a Shop and Swap happening on Pinto Dr tomorrow. I’ll attach the flyer promoting their grand opening!

Saturday April 18 is shaping up to be one of the busiest days Yerington has seen in a long time.

Spring Craft Fair, Little League Opening Ceremonies, Pickleball Tournament, Deadman’s Hand Poker Run, YHS Baseball and Softball, YHS Track & Field tournament and more! It’s amazing to see our community so busy and full of life and activity.

This coming Monday, April 13, is our regular scheduled City Council Meeting. As always, you can find the agendas and supporting documents here: https://www.yerington.net/AgendaCenter

Your Mayor and City Council are scheduled to recognize Poetry Out Loud Nevada State Champion and Yerington Resident, Mari Basaca Fuentes. We will also see a presentation from Lyon County Human Services regarding Child Abuse Prevention.

A critical item on the agenda is possible approval of our next fiscal year budget. I hold back from discussing agenda items before the meeting (prohibited by NRS) but let me just say- things are tight. City staff has been working hard to make every dollar stretch as far as they can and we will need to continue these fiscally responsible behaviors to keep things in order.

As you may know, we have some repaired and updated equipment working on our sewer ponds lately. Odors have not dissipated completely just yet but continue to improve each day as sludge is processed. If I could ask for the public’s help with an item it would be disposable wipes – please be sure that they’re truly disposable before flushing. I don’t claim to be a scientist in the field of wipes, but from day to day repairs and cleaning of the sewer ponds, I can tell you that many of the items we have to manually clean from the screens are wipes that do not break down. I would greatly appreciate your assistance on this matter.

I was able to take part in the mural discussion at the Yerington Chamber of Commerce last night, and there was wonderful suggestions and discussion. The consensus seemed to be that the desired location for this next grant funded mural will be the west side of the City Hall building. I’d like to say thank you to our Chamber of Commerce and Yerington NV Main Street Committee for helping make these programs a reality for our town.

With that, I’m putting weights in my pockets and heading to truck. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Please feel free to reach out anytime with questions or concerns.
