Obituary for Julie Elizabeth Jones: August 13, 1948 – March 26, 2026

Yerington NV – April 1, 2026

Julie Elizabeth Jones passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2026, after a brief, but courageous, battle with cancer.  She was at home in Yerington, Nevada, surrounded by her loving family.

Julie was born on August 13, 1948, in Nevada City, California to Donald and Marjorie Boreham.  She was the oldest of her three siblings, Cheryl Creedon, Donna MacGill and Duane Boreham.  She moved to Yerington in 1953 where she grew up and graduated from Yerington High School in 1966.  Some of her favorite childhood memories were playing with the kids in Weed Heights, camping and water skiing with her family.  She learned to water ski behind the boat (“Millie D”) that her dad had built.

While in high school, she started dating the love of her life, Frederick Jones.  As soon as she graduated, they were married one month later, on July 3, 1966.  Their love and devotion to each other served as an inspiration to everyone that knew them.  Whether they were traveling, gardening or simply sharing morning coffee, they were rarely seen apart.  A true testament to a lifetime of shared dreams.  They would have been married for 60 years this July.

Julie’s true joy was her family.  She and Fred had one daughter, Sandra and one son, Michael.  They were always their kids’ biggest fans, chasing them from one sport to another.  The family spent every summer camping, fishing and riding motorcycles.  As much as she loved her kids, her grandkids have always been the true highlight of her life!

Julie worked at Pioneer Citizens Bank for several years.  In 1994, she started a daycare in her home.  She has taken care of a lot of pretty special kids over the years and truly loved being their “Nanny.”

Julie had several interests.  She loved camping, fishing, hiking, golf and prospecting!  She just loved being outdoors and with her family!  She was also a great cook!  She was known for her raviolis and her famous macaroni salad!  She was also very creative with crochet and sewing!  She was definitely a lover of all animals.  She never passed up a chance to save a baby bird or any other creature that needed saving.

She is survived by her husband, Fred; her children, Sandra (Gene) Jones and Michael (Jennifer) Jones; her eight grandchildren, Alyssa, Stephen, Dominic, Bailee, Derek, Hillarie, Caitlin and Dylan; and her nine great grandchildren, Harper, Lohne, Lillian, William, Walker, Liam, Greyson, Gage and Brock;  and her siblings, Cheryl Creedon, Donna MacGill and Duane Boreham.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Marjorie Boreham.

In keeping with her wishes, no funeral or memorial service will be held.
