In Loving Memory of Our Precious Mother
Charlotte M. (Cooper) King
1943 – 2025
Our beloved wife, mom, Nani, Aunt Charlotte, Great Aunt, Great-great Aunt, Grandma Char and dear friend went to her Heavenly Eternal Home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, whom she served so well, on November 7, 2025. She was at home surrounded by her family and loved ones. While our hearts ache with her absence, we rejoice in knowing she is at peace and consumed by God’s Everlasting Love.
She was a guiding light in our lives, offering endless love, warmth, and wisdom. Her kindness touched not only her family but everyone she met, no matter where she was. Her beautiful smile was contagious, and her strength inspired us all to be a better version of ourselves every day.
Charlotte Mae (Cooper) King was born on March 3, 1943, in Tonopah, Nevada to Carl and Geraldine Cooper. She grew up in Gabbs, Nevada with her sister Kay until the family moved to Yerington in 1952. She began her school years starting in the third grade and then graduated from Yerington High School in 1961. She attended Ponce Beauty College in Reno, Nevada where she became a certified beautician. Charlotte married her high school sweetheart, Myrl Roy King, on July 8, 1962, and then moved to Lovelock where their first child, Deborah was born. They eventually settled in Yerington, where both Dena and Dona were born, and where they chose to raise their family.
Charlotte started her career as a beautician at the Yerington Emporium for several years. She also babysat for many Weed Heights and Yerington families. She then became a title & escrow officer at Northern Nevada Title, and from there moved to Title Service and Escrow. Eventually she transitioned to the mapping department at the Lyon County offices, where she worked under the direction of Dave Chism. Dave made the comment that she was a phenomenal asset and a valuable resource to his department. He said she was accurate, extremely thorough and worked harder than anyone in the office. She was considered the “Mapping Queen!” Her friendly personality and kindness touched many people who became her lifelong friends.
Charlotte’s pastimes included many camping trips with her entire family and friends, which eventually led her and Myrl to become Good Sam members of the local chapter, Copper Hills Sams, with Charlotte holding many offices over the years culminating as the Good Sam President! She also taught and loved cake decorating, crocheting, and cross-stitching. She enjoyed planting her garden, taking care of her roses, canning, baking, and feeding her birds. She had the faith and passion for fellowship with other women which led her to become an integral part of the women’s ministry called Adam’s Rib at the First Baptist Church (now Yerington Vineyard Fellowship), where she was an attending member of the congregation for several years.
She was even a world traveler when she went to Russia to visit her daughter, Dona, and Dave Chism’s family. Dave always told his family that, “my life, and that of my family and a lot of my friends and co-workers have been SO much better by having Charlotte in it. So blessed to have been a part of hers.”
Her health issues made life difficult for her, but it didn’t stop her from attending all family events, every sporting event (even if they had to travel from one end of the state to the other), her grandchildren’s graduations, weddings and great-grandchildren’s births. It was obvious that “Family” was where her “Heart” was. Her mission field was at doctors’ offices, hospitals, ERs, and rehab facilities, where she was able to share her faith with everyone she came into contact with. She had the most unbelievable fighting spirit with the ability to overcome any adversity or obstacle placed in her path.
Charlotte was devoted to her family and cherished every moment spent together. She believed in being kind and forgiving and serving family, friends and strangers with compassion. She was loved and adored by all that crossed paths with her. She enjoyed hosting annual holiday dinners, baking and cooking, playing any type of game (especially Kings in the Corner and Mexican Trains). She especially loved her “Bunco” parties! She had a gift for making a house a home—her beautiful smile, laughter, compassion, and gentle spirit created memories we will treasure and hold close to our hearts. Christmas was her most favorite holiday because as she would always say, “Jesus is the Reason for the Season!” and also because she thoroughly took delight in decorating her home with added love, joy and great anticipation for the beautiful season of the Christmas holiday. She took so much enjoyment in seeing her grandchildren and great grandchildren walk into her home and watch how their eyes would light up and sparkle! As you can tell, her greatest joy by far was her grandchildren and great grandchildren—they were her angels on earth. Though she is no longer physically with us, her legacy of love and generosity will remain in our hearts forever.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Geraldine Cooper; her in-laws, Gerald and Lois King; her sister, Kay Marriott; and her grandchildren, Rebecca Ann Rife and Jerame William Tracy.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Myrl King; daughters Debbie Rife (Jeff), Dena Nicholas (John) and Dona Tracy; grandchildren Ryan Rife (Dani), Katie Smith (Luke), Ashley Bernard (Donald), Michael Nicholas (Skyler) and Lukas and Daren Tracy; great grandchildren Everly, Weston & Callan Rife, and Halle Smith; as well as numerous beloved nieces, nephews and a multitude of cherished friends.
Our family would like to thank and offer the highest praise and appreciation to each of her amazing “God-sent” caregivers, doctors, physical therapists and nurses and to the excellent staff of Infinity Hospice Care, who treated her with respect, kindness, gentleness and love. Each of you will forever have a treasured place in our hearts, as we know you definitely had one in hers!
A Celebration of Charlotte’s Life and fellowship is planned for Saturday, May 16, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Jeff and Debbie Rife’s home at 845 Perumean Lane, Yerington.

We will miss her dearly, but we take comfort in knowing that her life was filled with meaning, purpose and many miracles from God, and that her love will continue to guide us. She will always be remembered, cherished and deeply missed.
She would want us to share with you that she is looking forward to seeing you all again in Heaven because you have asked Jesus to come into your life to be your Lord and Savior for eternity. What a blessed reunion that will be!
We leave you with this beautiful quote from a dear family friend that sums up our mom’s life. “She learned to believe and hold on—then learned to trust and let go. She fought the good fight, finished the race, kept the faith. What a blessing it was to have been a part of her life.”
