Yerington Community Update on November 26, 2025 from Interim City Manager Jerry Bryant

Good evening Yerington Community!

As I prepare to leave the office this evening to enjoy Thanksgiving with my family, I feel it’s appropriate to share how thankful I am to serve our community in this capacity. I’m also thankful to work alongside a great staff who share in my commitment and desire for improvement every day. I hope each and every one of you get to spend the holiday surrounded by great company and take time to reflect on the blessings you are grateful for.

If you are in need of a dinner, or even just want some company tomorrow, please consider accepting the New Hope Bible Fellowship Church’s invitation to join them from 12 pm- 3 pm for dinner. I’ll attach a flyer below with details.

City offices are closed both Thursday and Friday for the holiday, but on call Public Works can be reached at (775) 463-7733 for animal shelter or water/sewer emergencies.

Speaking of the animal shelter, I’m happy to report that we recently acquired 17 new kennels for our animal shelter and are eagerly working on plans for their installation and replacement of kennels in disrepair.

After the Black Friday shopping frenzy, be sure to come by City Hall this Saturday for Small Business Saturday! Our Chamber of Commerce has done a wonderful job orchestrating a small town business event to help local vendors and businesses display their products and services. As a city, we fully support these efforts to grow our local businesses. This event is from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Come down ready to support your small businesses!

Public Works crew was busy today placing Christmas wreaths on poles along Main Street. The Yerington Main Street Committee will also be out on Sunday and invites you to help with placement of more decorations along Main Street and cleanups as we get our city in the Christmas spirit! If you’re interested in joining, meet us at City Hall this Sunday at 10 a.m.

Some of you may have noticed that a section of our digital board at the corner of Goldfield and Main Street has gone black. Replacement parts have arrived and we are currently waiting on a technician to install them. Unfortunately, they are 4 weeks out, but we will do our best to expedite it, if at all possible.

NDEP will be hosting an open house public meeting this Tuesday, December 2 at City Hall from 6:00-8:00 p.m. This is regarding the Anaconda Mine site cleanup efforts. Please come by with your questions if you’d like to hear it directly from the Nevada Department of Environmental Protection.

The California Well, as mentioned previously, is online. Testing has come back cleared and the water will be integrated to our system next week. This is great news for our water supply.

I’d like to thank all of you who came out to the K-9 Bingo Night in support of our YPD K-9 program and K-9 Joker. I’d also like to say a special thanks to the Keystone Club of the Mason Valley Boys & Girls Club for hosting this event. It was a great and fun event for families and did well raising funds for a great cause.

Street Sweeping will occur again this Wednesday, December 3 starting at 6:00 a.m. and going until approximately 5 p.m. Where possible, try to keep the streets clear to accommodate sweeping. This is also a good time to remind the community that trailers, campers, vehicles etc., have 72 hour parking limits on city streets.

As we prepare for the busy holiday season and all of the events to come, be sure to check out the Small Town Christmas calendar of events. At City Hall we will also host a tree lighting the night of December 8 and the festivities last all week long. I’m also told the Grinch will be appearing around town, trying to steal your Christmas joy. I’ll attach flyers with more info about both.

As always, if you need to reach me, you can call my office at (775) 344-0343 or email me at jerryb@yerington.net.

I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
