Yerington Branch of the DMV System Upgrades to IMPROVE Customer Experience

The Yerington Branch of the Department of Motor Vehicles is now serving residents of Lyon County ONLY & by appointment ONLY. Initially, while this change may be unwelcome by some customers, the appointment-only change has already resulted in eliminating the hours-long wait at the Yerington DMV office!

As a Pizen Switch Times reporter, I entered the Yerington DMV Office a 10am on Thursday, November 6th and was greeted by an almost-empty waiting room with 3 DMV Employees serving customers and answering my questions!

How does someone without the internet make an appointment at the DMV? A customer needs to be able to create and monitor an email account for communication with the DMV. This can be by cell phone; or by use of the public internet available at the Yerington Branch Library or the Yerington Senior Center. (Customer needs to have a cell phone to receive DMV text communications.)

What if a customer does not know how to use the internet and only has a landline phone? The DMV customer should reach out to an employee at the Yerington Branch Library, the Yerington Senior Center or Lyon County Human Services to request assistance to create & monitor email communications, and to schedule an appointment at the Yerington Branch of the DMV.
