Cherryl Ann Compston DelPorto was born on September 10, 1947 in Yerington, NV and passed from this world on August 29, 2025 in her home surrounded by family and friends.
Cherryl was born in the “Old” Yerington hospital to Virgina Dunn Compston and Frank Compston. She spent her childhood in Yerington, where she played softball, raised animals and helped on the family farm.
After graduating from Yerington High School in 1965, Cherryl attended secretarial school in San Francisco. She was dating Danny DelPorto at this time and she often reminisced about walking on the pier and sharing a shrimp cocktail with him. Countless love letters were sent and they were married on March 30, 1968. In July of 1972 their oldest daughter Gina was born. Julie joined the family in November of 1976.
Cherryl spent the majority of her life as a Real Estate Agent. Because of her kind soul, many of her clients became life long friends. Once you met Cherryl, you never wanted to lose her.
Her grandkids were her pride and joy. She would help them look for treasures in the yard, cheer them on in whatever activity they were doing and hug them with her whole heart.
If you knew Cherryl, you knew family dinners were her favorite thing. Every weekend you could find a table full of food surrounded by friends and family. It didn’t even have to be a special occasion. She just loved to entertain and be encircled by love and laughter.
Cherryl is preceded in death by her husband Dan, parents Frank and Virginia Compston, brother Ron Compston, in-laws Dan and Rose DelPorto.
She is survived by daughters Gina (Henry) Moreda of Yerington. Julie (JJ) Myers of Lovelock. Grandchildren Elizabeth Moreda, Jamie Moreda, Dalley Myers and Wyatt Myers.
After battling Parkinson’s for over 25 years, Cherryl is finally free. We guarantee she is grabbing gears and driving fast, hosting dinners and dancing in heaven.
