Forest’s mother, Michelle Erin Dion, shared this wonderful news:

Our baby was born Aug 23, 2005 at Barton Memorial hospital in Lake Tahoe. It was a very traumatic birth where I almost didn’t make it. I went into shock and needed for 4 units of blood. We are so thankful everything turned out well for me and baby. Baby’s name is Forest Stihl Meeks-Fisher. 7 lbs 3oz 20.5 in. Parents are Michelle Erin Dion and Christopher Robert Craig. We are over the moon with his birth, took 3 years of ivf treatments and four losses to be blessed with him.

Dream of you

We whispered dreams into the open air,
Imagined faces, features, everywhere.
A future painted bright with hopeful art,
A tiny footprint on our hopeful heart.
We pictured sleepless nights and rocking chairs,
The scent of baby skin, the whispered prayers.
We didn’t know your name, or eyes, or cries,
But loved you fiercely under cloudy skies.

Wait for you

The seasons turned, and then a little more,
Each waiting day a lesson to explore.
The silence was a space we held for you,
A quiet promise, deep and soft and true.
And now you’re here, a miracle so small,
The long, slow waiting vanishes with all
Your perfect breath, your tiny, curling fist,
The very piece of us we never knew we’d missed.

So welcome, son, you are our after-all.
The strength we found in standing up so tall.
Our hopeful journey led us to this day,
And now you’ll be our constant, come what may.
The truest ending to a book begun,
Our beautiful, our long-awaited son.
