Obituary for Wilma Southard: September 28, 1931 to January 19, 2025

Wilma Southard was born September 28, 1931 in Howard, South Dakota. At the age of 10 she moved to Vale, Oregon.

She met and married Bill Southard in Vale, and that’s where their daughters Shirley and Becky were born. Wilma & Bill moved to Caldwell, Idaho where Bill began his career with the fire department. Their son Bill was born in Caldwell.

In 1961, the family moved to Yerington, Nevada when Bill took a job with the fire department. Their daughter Jeanne was born in Yerington. Wilma spent a lot of time supporting the activities of the Yerington fire department. She worked at Copeland Lumber and then at Farmers Insurance.

Wilma enjoyed meeting and helping the people of Yerington. She and Bill traveled around the United States then spent winters in Yuma, Arizona. She was very involved with Faith Lutheran Church in Yerington. After Bill passed away, she moved to Washington to be close to family. She missed Yerington so much. She passed away January 19, 2025 in Richland, Washington. A celebration of her life will be held at a later time.
