Monday, January 13, 2025 at the Yerington City Council Meeting in the James Sanford Community Center in the Yerington City Hall, new-to-the Council Omar Rodriguez Lopez was sworn into office along with returning Mayor John Garry and Councilman Jerry Bryan.
Councilman Lopez is a familiar face in the community with his involvement in the Yerington Chamber of Commerce, Mason Valley 4th of July, Small Town Christmas and Light Parade, the Josh Farler Helping Hands Foundation, Masons/Eastern Star, etc. and as a wedding officiant, former employee with Peri & Sons, current employee with Wild West Chevrolet, friend to many, family member AND father to Oliver. (This list is just the tip of the iceberg!)
Councilman Lopez reported:
“I am honored to announce that I have officially taken the oath of office to serve as a member of the Yerington City Council. I am committed to fulfilling my responsibilities with integrity and dedication, striving to make a positive impact in our community. I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to my family and friends for their unwavering support and encouragement throughout this journey. Thank you for being there for me on this significant day.
“I sincerely hope that my swearing-in today has made my grandparents (Rodriguez and Lopez, who are looking down from above, and my parents proud. Their guidance and support have been instrumental in my journey, and I strive to honor their legacy through my service in this new role.
“Most of all, I hope to make my son proud of his father. I love you with all my heart Oliver Omar Lopez!!! You are my drive!!

“Me siento honrado de anunciar que he tomado oficialmente el juramento de oficina para servir como miembro del Concejo Municipal de Yerington.
