2024 ANNUAL REPORT
Message of the Week on January 10, 2025
Attached is the 2024 Lyon County Sheriff’s Office Annual Report. The report contains statistics and information referencing the programs the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office operates.
Traffic incidents remain the number one complaint the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office receives. While we are not omnipresent and cannot be on every road simultaneously, the Deputies of the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office have made a concerted effort to enforce traffic law throughout the County.
- 2022: 4,171
- 2023: 6,365
- 2024: 9,012
The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office increased the total amount of traffic stops throughout Lyon County by 116% since 2022. This was the new direction of the agency established in 2023. Page 20 of the report has each patrol area broken down to show the increases.
I would also like to highlight the statistical data related to response times. There has been a significant decrease in the time a deputy takes to respond to the community’s calls for service. These times are highlighted on page 19 of the report. Several categories show as much as a 300% decrease in the time it takes a Deputy to respond to a call. This aligns with the direction the Sheriff’s Office took beginning in 2023.
The report, page 23, includes statistical data from the Lyon County Jail. The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office made more arrests last year than in any year, 1,311. This total does not include arrests of subjects with warrants from other Counties that were immediately transferred to other jurisdictions’ custody. This data also shows why arrestees are released from the Lyon County Jail, with the main reason for the release being “On Recognizance.”
I am proud of the work of the Deputies of the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office; they continue to work extremely hard to ensure our community is safe. The statistical data in this report reflects their dedication and hard work. Lyon County Deputies, keep up the great work!
