Rachel Irene Kimball of Yerington, Nevada: April 3, 1934 to December 28, 2024
Rachel passed away peacefully from the natural cause of congestive heart failure at 90 years of age in Carson Tahoe hospital in Carson City, Nevada where she was visited and comforted by family members.
Rachel came from a large family in Oklahoma that later moved to Oregon while she was a child. After she grew up there, she married Ernest Sheldon Triplett in 1949, also in Oregon. During her young adult years, Rachel eventually had 6 children, 3 boys first and then 3 girls next, with the last name of Triplett.
Ernie was a logger and he & a partner, Art Lundeen, formed Triangle Logging Company, a gyppo logging operation, a small independent logging company. He also bought and remodeled a small apartment building in Willamina, Oregon where they lived and had the 3 boys: Wayne, Everett and Tom. Then Ernie and Rachel rented out their apartment and took their family to Northern California to find work for Ernie’s logging company. After looking for work in a couple of places, including Willits, California, they found work in Honeydew, California, logging on a large ranch for a couple of years.
Partly due to the recession in 1958, they dissolved the logging company, sold their equipment and headed back to their home in Willamina, Oregon. They stopped on the way for a couple of weeks for their first daughter Jo Anne to be born in Fortuna, California. Back home in Willamina, where their second daughter Darlene was born, they had a second-hand store for a couple of years until the doctor told Ernie to go south to a drier climate for his pleurisy. So they ended up buying and remodeling the historic Mason Hotel, bar and cafe, in Mason, Nevada near Yerington, where their third daughter Linda was born.
For a number of years after her marriage to Ernie, Rachel lived and worked in Tonopah, Pahrump and Topaz Ranch Estates. Then back in Yerington, Nevada, she married Ron Kimball and they lived south of Yerington in Sunny Grove (south of Mason) for a number of pleasant years until they moved to Bowie, Arizona. After good years there, when Ron passed, she sold their home and moved back to Yerington and retired. Rachel lived happily many years in her apartment at Yerington Manor and lately was benefiting from assisted living at Mason Valley Residence.
Rachel’s health recently declined after 90 years of an adventurous, productive and well-lived life. Rachel is survived by 6 children, 17 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, 3 step-great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren. Rachel is preceded by her children’s father, Ernie Triplett, and 2 grandchildren.
The funeral service is scheduled for Sunday, January 12, 2025 at 2:00 pm at the Yerington Vineyard church, Yerington Vineyard Fellowship 307 Broadway Ave., Yerington NV 89447. After the service and burial, a reception will follow at approximately 4:00 pm. at the Chism Hall, next door to the church. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to sign her online guest book at www.FRFH.net. Arrangements are under the direction of Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home, 25 Hwy 208 Yerington, NV 89447 (775) 463-2911
