Edna Gertrude Bein ~ May 26, 1930 to May 6, 2024 ~ Rest in Peace Fair Lady

Edna passed away quietly at home after a brief illness on Monday, May 6, 2024.  She was 93.

She was born in San Francisco, California on May 26, 1930.  She enjoyed playing in Golden Gate Park as a little girl. Edna graduated from San Francisco State with a teaching credential, but decided to work in an insurance agency, eventually completing her Insurance Broker’s License. She worked in the insurance business until her marriage to Charles Stottlemeyer. In 1988 she moved with her family to Yerington where she worked in the Lyon County Recorder’s Office.

Her passion was the American Saddlebred horses that she raised, trained, and showed. She won competitions against professional horse trainers, and was awarded many trophies, including trophies and ribbons from wins at the Cow Palace.

During her 93 years she saw the Mona Lisa and King Tut, used ration books during WWII, walked across the Gold Gate Bridge on opening day, attended the 1939 World’s Fair, watched the first man land on the moon, witnessed the rise of computers and cell phones, and survived COVID.

She is survived by her son Marc Stottlemeyer of Yerington, her brother Jerry Jorgensen of La Cross, Wisconsin and is missed by many loving nephews and friends.

Services will be held on Saturday, May 18 at 2 Pm at the Frietas Funeral Home, 25 Hwy 208 Yerington.  Edna will be buried next to her husband, Charles, at the Northern Nevada Veterans Cemetery in Fernley.  Family and friends are invited to sign her online guest book at www.FRFH.net.
