Roger Lee Randall, beloved husband, father, and proud veteran, passed away on May 2, 2024, after bravely battling cancer. He would have celebrated his 82nd birthday on May 8.
Roger is survived by his devoted wife of 41 years, Jill Randall, who stood by his side throughout his journey, which took him from Southern California to Oklahoma and then finally to Yerington, Nevada.
He is also survived by his children, Jeff and Lori Randall Weaver and Russell and Wendy Randall Williams, who cherished him dearly. His youngest daughter Cindy Randall preceded him in death in 2012. Roger was also blessed with four grandchildren, Katie and Shelby Weaver and Garrett and Jacob Williams who spent many hours with the man they all called Papa.
Born to Dora Bickel and Carl Randall in Los Angeles CA on May 8, 1942, Roger was the eldest of six siblings, embodying the role of a caring and protective older brother. A veteran of the United States Air Force, Roger served with honor and dedication, achieving the rank of SGT during two terms of service.
After leaving the military, he spent 16 years working for Sears but eventually moved to Kansas, Oklahoma to sell resort property. He then became an independent owner/operator driving a Semi across the country. When he finally retired in 2007, he became a part-time school bus driver for Kansas School District in Kansas, Oklahoma. He loved driving the children to school.
Roger was the cornerstone of his family, a true patriarch whose presence brought warmth and guidance to all who knew him. He had a passion for fishing and camping and he generously shared this love with all of his grandchildren.
It is fair to say, he never met a stranger in his life and never missed an opportunity to meet a new friend. He had the gift of gab for sure and so many stories to tell. We will miss those stories!
Roger was an avid gardener, nurturing vibrant blooms that will continue to be a living memory for many years to come. An avid enthusiast of NASCAR, Roger found joy in the thrill of the races. He also enjoyed spending time in the casinos and had a reputation for being able to fix any car made prior to the advent of the computer. He took an active interest in politics, engaging in thoughtful discussions that reflected his commitment to his country.
In his essence, Roger was a true American, embodying the values of hard work, resilience, integrity, and community. His absence leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew him, but his legacy of love and service will continue to inspire and guide generations to come.
Roger Lee Randall will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace, knowing his impact on the world will endure forever.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Roger on June 15 in Auburn, California.
