Chester “Chet” T. Keeley Sr.: 11/17/1946 to 3/23/2024 “We Miss Chet’s Smile & Wave in front of Yerington Smokeshop”

Chester “Chet” T. Keeley Sr. Chester passed away March 23rd 2024 at South Lyon Medical Center in Yerington Nevada.

Chester was born on November 17th 1946 in Smith Valley Nevada to Theodore and Geraldine Keeley.  Chester served in the United States Army and was a proud Veteran and a member of the local 8084 VFW chapter in Yerington. Chester was a proud member of the Yerington Paiute Tribe and resided on the Yerington Paiute Tribe Colony for many years.

You could often find Chester sitting out front of the Smokeshop in his wheelchair people watching. For the past 4 years Chester resided at the Northern Nevada State Veterans Home in Reno, NV. During his time there Chester touched many hearts and was one of the favorite residents in the whole facility. Although he had many health struggles he never let that get to him and he was always happy and smiling and the favorite patient at any healthcare facility he was at.

Chester is preceded in death by his parents Theodore and Geraldine Keeley; his twin brother Andrew Keeley; Sister Melanie Keeley McGuire and his loving wife Ernestine Conway-Keeley. Chester is survived by his daughter Karla Mercier Page of Idaho, and his son Chester Keeley Jr. of Texas. Chester is also survived by numerous other relatives.

Graveside services for Chester will take place on Sunday April 21st at 1:00PM at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Smith Valley Nevada, with dinner to follow at the Yerington Paiute Tribe Gymnasium. Food donations are greatly appreciated.

The family of Chester would like to thank the staff at the Northern Nevada State Veterans Home for the love and care they showed to Chester for the past 4 years and the staff at South Lyon Medical Center Long Term Care for the care they provided to him the past few months.
