“Take a Kid to a Car Show ~ 2023” brought out automobile enthusiasts of all ages for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Mason Valley’s Annual Event on Main Street in Yerington, Nevada.
Sponsored by Peri & Sons Farms, Pioneer Crossing, W.R. Charron US Navy (Retired), Walker River Mechanical, and Wild West Chevrolet, the afternoon car show featured dozens of unique cars & trucks sporting pride-of-ownership. Several vendor booths lined the street; hotdogs & hamburgers were on the Mason Valley Fire Department barbeque grill; and the Nick Elwood Band entertained the crowd all afternoon.
After the Award Ceremony, everyone headed over to the Jeanne Dini Fine Arts Center to attend the Home Brew Contest sponsored by the Yerington Theatre for the Arts followed by an evening performance by Silver Screen Comedy at the Yerington Movie House.

From Photographer Richard Massey: “When a drone isn’t practical, my home-built Fort Churchill Sky-cam can save the day.
This afternoon I went to our local car show and used my 10′-long pole to capture these images. My camera was on the top end and my smartphone was on a bracket two feet from the other end. I activated the Canon Connect app that gave me total remote control over the camera settings and allowed me to see exactly what my camera was seeing. For stability, I rested the pole on my waist belt…very cool set up!
If you have ever tried to photograph an event like this, you know how next to impossible it can be to get an overview/establishing shot. Often, you can’t even isolate a single car in the picture. They are usually packed too close together and the hoods are often up. From ground level everything is such a congested mess. By elevating the camera above everything, it opens the scene and better tells the story.”
