Lyon County Board of Commissioners to review Solid Waste Franchise Request for Proposal and Public Health Officer Position
Yerington, Nevada – The Lyon County Board of Commissioners, at their October 20, 2022 board meeting, will review and discuss the Request for Proposal (RFP) document for the Solid Waste Franchise Agreement for Lyon County. Approving the RFP document is the first step in soliciting proposals for the garbage collection contract. Proposals will be reviewed and the winner will be selected at a later meeting date, yet to be scheduled.
Lyon County’s solid waste franchise covers all areas of Lyon County except within the city limits of Fernley and Yerington. The contract was previously awarded at the Commissioners’ March 3, 2022 board meeting, however, a protest of the contract award was granted in April. The Board decided it was best to begin the process again and issue a new Request for Proposal.
Also on the agenda, the Commissioners will review the Public Health Officer position and determine whether or not Lyon County should issue a Request for Proposal for that role. The Public Health Officer Serves as the executive officer of the County Board of Health. Dr. Robin Titus currently serves as the County’s Public Health officer, she has filled the role since 1984.
Other items on the agenda include a presentation from Ormat Technologies on geothermal activities in Lyon County, a possible update to the County’s at-home vehicle storage policy for law enforcement, and an update on American Rescue Plan Act funding allocations and spending.
The Lyon County Board of Commissioners meeting begins at 9:00am on October 20, 2022 at the Lyon County Administrative Complex located at 27 S. Main Street, Yerington, NV 89447. The complete agenda is posted online at www.lyon-county.org/Agendacenter or can be found by clicking here.
