Marilyn Ann Rawson & Delbert William Rawson, Both Pass Away in September, Married 63 Years & 11 Months

Marilyn Ann Rawson passed away at St. Mary’s Hospital in Reno on September 1, 2022 after suffering a fall at home.

On September 24, 2022, Delbert William Rawson passed away at Hearthstone Nursing Care.  Delbert succumbed to a longtime illness of Dementia.

Marilyn and Delbert were married for 63 years and 11 months.

They are survived by their three children, Jerry and Mike Rawson and daughter Theresa Lackey, and Tom Young, brother of Marilyn, and David Allision, brother of Delbert, in addition to numerous nieces and nephews.

Marilyn was born in Kingman, Kansas. She eventually moved with her family to Yerington, NV where she met and married Delbert, who was born in Yerington.  They moved to Blaine, Washington for 4 years, then returned to Sparks, NV.

Delbert became a member of the Plumbers/Pipefitters Local 350 Union, which he retired from.  His hobbies were playing baseball and softball, hunting, and fishing, and supporting his 3 children in similar activities.  He was even scouted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 1950’s.

Marilyn joined Beta Sigma Phi in 1961.  She held every elected office, plus serving on numerous committees.  She represented her chapter as a Valentine Queen as well as Woman of the Year.  Her hobbies were volunteering at the Sparks Museum and putting together several binders of family history spanning over a century.  Marilyn also was secretary for over 17 years for the Northern Area Substance Abuse Council.

A Celebration of Life will be held on November 5, 2022 at 1:00 pm at the University Family Fellowship, 1125 Stanford Way, Sparks, NV  89431.
