April 15, 2022 The Lyon County Board of Commissioners will be holding a special meeting to address a protest filed by Waste Management. The protest is in response to the County Commissions’ unanimous decision to award the Solid Waste Disposal Franchise to Olcese Waste Services at their March 3, 2022 meeting.
The initial Request for Proposal (RFP) identified the process to protest the Boards decision and required that a protest had to be filed and heard prior to any action being taken to court. Three companies bid on the franchise, C & S Waste, Olcese Waste Services, and Waste Management. The filed protest stops the Boards decision until the hearing is conducted and the Board takes action. Current trash services will continue as normal.
The Board is scheduled to take action on April 15, 2022 at 9:00 AM at the Greg Hunewill Commission Chambers, 27 South Main Street, Yerington, NV 89447. A copy of the agenda and backup material will be posted on the County website later next month. The agenda and material can be found at: https://www.lyon-county.org/Agendacenter
