The Lyon County Board of Commissioners will be meeting in Yerington on October 7, 2021, at 9:00 AM to discuss and take action on a number of items:
The Board of Commissioners will be asked to approve an ordinance to increase the size of the Smith Valley Fire Protection District Board of Directors from a three-person board to a five-person board. This item was requested by the Smith Valley Fire Protection District.
Lyon County Human Services and the District Attorney will present a Proclamation for approval declaring October as Domestic Violence Prevention Month.
Commissioner Henderson will present a Resolution declaring the second Monday of October as Indigenous Peoples Day.
The Yerington Rotary Club is presenting a Resolution declaring October 24, 2021, as World Polio Day.
The Board will recognize Lyon County Librarian Dana Fenili-Doll, Lyon County Search and Rescue, and the Volunteers in Policing for their roles in supporting Shelter operations during the Tamarack Fire.
The County Manager and Citizen Advisory Board Liaison will present a Resolution that changes the week of the month that Citizen Advisory Boards meet from the first full week to the third full week. The Resolution explains that this change will begin in January 2022 and be a six-month trial. The recommendation comes after the Board and Planning Commission held a joint workshop. The goal of the resolution is to provide Community Development staff time to ensure that the Citizen Advisory Boards are receiving complete information on Development Applications to make recommendations to the Board of Commissioners.
The County Comptroller is presenting the 9-1-1 Surcharge 5-Year Master Plan for upgrading 9-1-1 and public safety communications systems.
